When the Medina family moved to England from the Canaries in 1955, it was in search of something greater. While Spain had its families that were all-wizard, the pureblood line was slowing dying out and ending with unmarried heirs. The general attitude of the country shifted and purism was considered an outdated concept; to the point where pureblood families were growing more and more isolated.

Although Izan had always lived in England and knew nothing of Spanish life, his parents continued to keep him very shielded. They made their connections with other wizarding families, but Izan was never allowed to talk to any of them. As a child, he was seen but not heard. He spoke only when he was spoken to, and if he said the wrong thing it was a clip around the ear. As a result, Izan became very socially inept. He only knew what the family stood for; what the family wanted; that it was family above all else.

He always knew that he would have a duty to marry, and soon he believes one will be chosen for him.
