At least the older students actually wanted to be there. Well, he hoped they did, or they'd get a real surprise when they stepped out of line.

It had only been a few months that Professor Daegon became charms professor, and he was shocked to discover that he didn't entirely resent it. Perhaps all those years of teaching remedial students and ne'er-do-wells was a torture that reduced him to a general abhorrance of children. Perhaps being a real teacher wasn't so bad. But, that didn't mean they'd get off lightly.

Bubble Head Charms. Was written on the board, in his aggressive scrawl.

"Get in," He grumbled, after opening the classroom door with his wand and watching them all file in. "Now this might be the last lesson of term, but that doesn't mean you kids get to slack! I mean it! Those with their heads stuffed in the clouds or you smart-mouthed stinkers will get on my shit list for the rest of the school year!"

When he'd finished barking to them all, his face relaxed ever so slightly. "Great lesson for you all. If you succeed, you might have a good time. If you fail, you might drown." He laughed maliciously at the thought, eyeing them each with contempt.

Izan sat quietly in Daegon's class, letting all what he said completely wash over him. He was always like this. The few detentions that he had served for him in the past were usually quite high on the humiliation scale: such as disposing of dead rats in the dungeons, or scraping the poisonous Streeler mucus from the pavement on the grounds, or, the more extreme: shovelling thestral dung in the rain while wearing only vests and shorts while everyone laughed from the castle windows.

He could only be described as a bastard, but Izan didn't care too much about him the way others did. They were always trying to get on his nerves and get back at him. Izan just wanted to learn and pass his exams.
