Jeremy grew up in a very prominent family who had been disowned by the Sacred Twenty Eight during the Rise of Grindelwald, and that was because they choose to join the opposing side against Grindelwald after the family’s patriarch was murdered right before one of the biggest debates of the century, but would end with Howard Shaw being murdered in cold blood, and led to the Shaws rebelling, and in return losing their place in the Sacred Twenty Eight.

This would lead to their family name being tainted, and would end up secluding themselves from the Wizarding World, by living in their secluded mansion in York, and would lead them to live their own life away from the wizarding world, where they’d end up making money off starting a line of businesses in Carikitt and Horizont Alley, and would gain a reputation that was far from the politics of the wizarding world.

This led to Jeremy spending his life living as a vagrant in wizarding society for causing a rebellion that caused them to lose their spot in the Sacred Twenty-Eight, which was an order that predated a lot of the wizards, and his family was kicked out. This would lead to Jeremy’s parents brainwashing him that the wizarding world was corrupt, and that’s why they choose to stay in Horizont Alley and Carkitt Market where they’d start quite the business dedicated to selling various types of poisons and potions.

A business that made the family a lot of money after they were cast from the wizarding world which would come to be known as Shaw’s Aromatics, and led to Jeremy living in the shadow of a big legacy that his two older brothers were to inherit. This led to Jeremy being able to live his life away from the legacy, but because of this, his parents didn’t bother with him, since he would only carry on the family name. This led to Jeremy often trying to study Potions and Alchemy in his own time, and lead him to fall in love with Alchemy which he found far more fascinating than the art of potion-making since he found it as a way he could use naturals forces to make an effect come from it, since he found it more long-lasting.

During his years at Hogwarts, Jeremy was a part of Slytherin House where he’d often feel like an outcast due to this a lot of the members of Slytherin looked down on him for what his family was and his older brother who was also sorted into Slytherin spent most of his time, trying to get Jeremy to stay away from him, and get off his back. This led to Jeremy often finding time trying to study different forms of Alchemy, and where he’d develop his dream to one day become a famous Alchemist like Nicholas Flamel, if not more powerful.

A goal that he hopes to one day achieve, and be able to impress his family finally who like to focus on his brothers who don’t have much to offer.
