The story of Regulus is basically he is the brother that was given the role of being the one to carry on the legacy after his brother went against the family ideology. A moment in his life that Regulus hated watching, and didn’t get why Sirius couldn’t just keep his mouth shut. Sure, until he saw how some of his housemates talked, and being exposed to people who aren’t purebloods, Regulus opened his eyes.

He’d never admit that to his parents though. His parents were his base of shelter and if he was cast out onto the streets, how would he be able to complete his education? The answer is he wouldn’t be able to pursue an education. This was his means for survival, and if he was going, to be honest, Regulus did have a preference for purebloods. The boy read the stories, where muggles prosecuted them for being different. Differences were something that Regulus believed set the world apart and made the world beautiful.

Why would he want to support muggles? He didn’t want to.

That was until he met two muggleborns who were partnered with him for a group project, and it was safe to say that Regulus quizzed them a bit. Two muggleborns told him that their parents were supportive, and how interesting they found this world. It was like a fairytale coming true, and being a real wizard. It’s where his belief about muggleborns slowly started to change, but he still wasn’t the most trusting towards them.

He did believe that people no matter what blood status you had were able to complete your education because it influenced the hate if this side of you was kept hidden. Now that he is entering his fifth year, Regulus still isn’t the most trustworthy, but he also doesn’t hate them. In public though, he is definitely rotten towards them, because his friends were going to report back to his parents, and he couldn't risk that.

One day that might change, but he can’t risk his parents finding out. He wishes that Sirius would have done the exact same, and just kept his mouth shut.
